We have just had our 4th group show at 100% Design. This year
our title was Ten-XYZ. The XYZ refers to the axes used in digital/
cad manufacturing. The show went well and we were awarded
a Blueprint silver award (2nd) for 'contribution to show'. I
presented 3 new prototypes.
pencil basket - At home we have a fruit bowl and a pot
of pencils together on the on the kitchen table. I had an idea that
I could use pencils to contain fruit. My design is just a wooden disc
with slots around the edge and pencils, just add fruit.
cracker cheeseboard - When we were shown around
Metropolitan Works facilities I was interested in the water jet
cutter. They showed us shapes cut out of a paving slab. Can you
cut through marble ? yes. So I designed a cheeseboard. I made a
shape similar to a well known cracker.
salad server - A salad server is used as an extension of
the arm. We don't want balsamic vinegar on our fingers do we ?
I have made mine look like a robot's arm in a naive attempt to
get children to eat some salad (or at least show an interest).
